The 8,000 sq. ft. Contemporary Gallery serves as changing exhibition space for major traveling exhibitions from throughout the US, for temporary exhibitions curated by the Museum, and for highlights from the Museum's permanent collection of works by contemporary artists from Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Mexico. Included among the latter are Carlos Callejo, Susan Davidoff, James Drake, Gaspar Enríquez, Vernon Fisher, Carmen Lomas Garza, Gronk, Luis Jiménez, Donald Judd, Gilbert Lujan, James Magee, Melissa Miller, Celia Muñoz, Kermit Oliver, Nadezda Prvulovic, María Sada, Fritz Scholder, Gael Stack, James Surls, and Willie Varela.
