The EPMA Curatorial Department regularly has one or more volunteers who are studying or have studied art or art history at local universities, such as UTEP and NMSU. Fortunately some of the active students are able to receive university credits for their work at the EPMA.

Depending on the students’ skills and interests, volunteers variously assist with research, writing, exhibition planning and installation, design of exhibition interpretive materials, cataloging and registration of accessions, etc. The program has proved to offer immeasurable benefit to the Curatorial Department and the EPMA, as well as providing diverse practical museum experience for students committed to a career in art or museums.
