If you plan to visit the Museum during the 2014-2015 school year, limited bus scholarships are available, by application. Schools with the most financial need may apply for funding to pay for bus transportation to the museum. Students will be scheduled for a docent guided or self-guided visit, which includes free entry to ticketed exhibitions. Dates and times are limited, and teachers are asked to apply quickly.
Eligibility: Schools in El Paso and Doña Ana Counties with the most financial need will be considered, and each school may receive funding for up to four buses. A maximum of 60 students may be scheduled per hour. Currently guided tours are for students in grades 3 through 12 only.
Museum Visit: Every effort will be made to accommodate preferred days and times for visits, however, please provide at least three options for your visit. Guided tours will be scheduled based on availability, and must be scheduled at least three weeks in advance. Teachers will be provided with pre-visit tips to make the most of the visit to the museum.
Deadline: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but please allow for at least three weeks advance notice before your earliest preferred visit date.
This program is offered at no cost to schools through generous donations from United Bank of El Paso del Norte, Teresa E. Bustamante, and Jorge E. Vergen.
Conducted by trained docents, guided tours can highlight works from all the galleries, focus on a special exhibition or concept, or be tailored to the specific interests of your group. Guided tours are available for 10-50 visitors.
Self-guided tours allow your group to explore the galleries at your own pace, using special expanded didactic labels on works throughout the Museum. Self-guided tours are available to all age levels, for groups up to 100 visitors. Please schedule in advance to avoid overcrowding in the galleries.
